Last year when I was in New Zealand shooting Amanda & Stefan’s Tauranga wedding I got the call that my niece Clara was on the way. She was supposed to wait for me to get home so I could photograph her birth, but she had other plans! She was born early in the morning the day I was headed home and shortly before I boarded the plane I got the news that she had contracted Group B Strep and was being rushed to the NICU. There was no wifi on my plane so it wasn’t until my lay-over in Honolulu (many hours later) when I was able to check in on how she was doing. The very next morning I was able to go visit miss Clara. I debated taking my camera or not, but now (10 months later) I’m so glad I did. When I look at my healthy adorable 10 month old niece who loves swimming lessons and destroying anything in her sight, its hard to remember what a rough start she had on life. Being able to look back on these photos and remember brings me joy now. Clara stayed in the NICU and hospital for 10 days before she was healthy enough to go home and she hasn’t looked back since.
Stay tuned, I’ll be posting some of Clara’s new born photos soon! Are you interested in life-style new born or birth photos? I’d love to chat with you – contact me and we can discuss your needs!
